  • Jennifer Hendrickson, MBA, BCI, CMAI

    Chief Executive Officer

    Raised in Springfield, Missouri, Jennifer holds a bachelor's degree in Finance from Missouri State University. She also holds a Masters in Business Administration (MBA) from Southeast Missouri State University and two graduate degrees in banking through Vanderbilt and Louisiana State.

    Jennifer began her work in banking during her first year of college.  She spent fifteen continuous years in the financial services industry, half of them on the corporate side of the business.  In 2003, Jennifer relocated from St. Louis to her husband's hometown of Cape Girardeau. Four years later, she left her banking career as Chief Financial Officer and Marketing Director for a locally owned bank to start the consulting firm.

    Jennifer and her husband, Rhett, started Hendrickson Business Advisors, LLC in 2007, fulfilling a lifelong dream of owning their own business. The firm provides business consulting services to small and mid-sized businesses across all industries. They also own a business brokerage franchise: Murphy Business of Cape Girardeau. She is a Board Certified Intermediary (BCI) and also a Certified Merger & Acquisition Intermediary (CMAI) allowing her to facilitate transactions up to $500 million.

    Giving back to the community has always been a priority for Jennifer.  She is former president for the Zonta Club of Cape Girardeau Area, former chair of Chamber Young Professionals, former board member for the St. Louis Chapter of the Alzheimer's Association, former board member of the Cape Girardeau Area Chamber of Commerce, current board member of Progressive Farm Credit Services and an active member in several other service groups.  She has been awarded with Business Today's 40 Under 40 and the Support Services Award from the Southeast Missouri Chapter of the American Red Cross.  She was also a nominee for Zonta's Women of Achievement Award in 2009.  Hendrickson Business Advisors was also recognized as the Cape Chamber's Small Business of the Year in 2012.

    Together, Rhett and Jennifer have one daughter and reside in Cape Girardeau. In their spare time, they enjoy traveling, SCUBA diving, reading, and community service.

  • Rhett Hendrickson

    Co-Owner and Trainer

    Rhett helps people create cultures that they want to work in.

    Rhett is an internationally certified trainer for Dale Carnegie Training in the core Dale Carnegie Course, High Impact Presentations, and Sales  – garnering consistent participant evaluation scores above the 95th percentile.  He has trained employees for a wide variety of companies including Procter and Gamble; Nestle Purina; US Bank, URS Corporation; Kerber, Eck, and Braeckel; Do It Best; IBM; The United Way; Brown and Crouppen; Royal Canin; Hospital Sisters Health System; Crowe, Chizek and Company; and many more - both public and private.

    Born and raised in Cape Girardeau, Missouri, Rhett started training lifeguards for the Boy Scouts of America in the mid 1980’s and is a past faculty member of the BSA’s National Camping School.  Upon completing his Bachelor’s degree from Southeast Missouri State University, he took a position with the Greater St. Louis Area Council of the Boy Scouts of America where he recruited and trained adult volunteers who then assisted with adaptive recreation activities for high school students with special needs. He returned to Cape Girardeau to take a position at Southeast Missouri Hospital as the hospital's liaison to the business community.  Rhett and his wife, Jennifer, started Hendrickson Business Advisors in 2007, where his focus returned to interpersonal relations and communication skills training.

    Among Rhett's awards and distinctions are the Young Alumni Merit Award (2009) from Southeast Missouri State University; 40 Under 40 (2008) from Cape Girardeau's Business Today; and 30 Under 30 (2001) from Fast Forward Magazine in St. Louis.  He is a Vigil Honor member of the Order of the Arrow and assistant Scoutmaster with Boy Scout Troop 2, chartered to Grace United Methodist Church in Cape Girardeau. He is a board member, volunteer, and Community Impact Committee Chairperson for the United Way of Southeast Missouri, a board member for the Cape Girardeau Community Caring Council and plays viola with the Southeast Missouri Symphony Orchestra for which he also serves as a board member. He is a member of the Cape Girardeau Area Chamber of Commerce and the Jackson, Missouri Chamber of Commerce and has served as an instructor for the Boy Scouts of America's National Camping School.

    In his spare time, Rhett enjoys SCUBA diving, landscaping, genealogy, camping, canoeing, and reading.  He and Jennifer reside in Cape Girardeau with their daughter.

  • Melanie Smollen

    Director of market research

    Melanie is originally from Traverse City, Michigan. She helped launch Hendrickson Business Advisors when she joined the firm in early 2008 and has been instrumental in its growth. Melanie developed a passion early in her consulting career for using market research to understand situations and affect change both in the for-profit and nonprofit sectors. As the Director of Market Research, she is directly responsible for identifying client needs, making recommendations on the most appropriate tools to use, deploying projects, analyzing data, and making recommendations to clients. As if that wasn’t enough, she also handles client relations and business development for the firm.

    In addition to her work with businesses, Melanie is the founder and president of our Faith Perceptions division which takes business tools and adapts them to the faith-based environment. She is widely known and respected for her vision and insights.

    Melanie is a sought after speaker and trainer – she does a great job at sharing best practices in industry verticals and will compel others to make changes when needed. Whether she is speaking to a small group of business owners or to an auditorium full of people at a conference – she has a relational way of connecting to each person in the audience.

    Away from the office, you can find her enjoying the simple things in life like quiet time with a cup of coffee, eating good food (preferably southern style), or cooking up a big meal for her family and friends. She and her husband, Paul, have four children.

  • Tony Buehrle

    director of business development

    Tony Buehrle retired in 2017 as Development Director at Notre Dame Regional High School in Cape Girardeau, MO, a position he held since 2002. Buehrle has been in sales and marketing for more than 40 years. Prior to leading the Notre Dame Foundation, Tony was Regional Development Director of Military Sales for Supervalu/Wetterau/Nash Finch and was responsible for developing manufacturer and distribution logistics encompassing $50M in sales. Tony also served as the Director of Food and Nutrition Services at Saint Francis Medical Center as well as Restaurant Management with the Drury Corporation.


    Tony continues as a member of the Notre Dame Regional High School Foundation Board. He is Treasurer of the Southeast Missouri Council on Philanthropy, past vice president of the St. Louis Planned Giving Council, past president of Cape West Rotary, a member of Knights of Columbus Council 11205, St. Vincent De Paul Parish, and a lifetime member of the Friends of Saint Francis with Saint Francis Medical Center.

  • Kate roth

    Project Manager

    Kate was born and raised in the Cape Girardeau area. She started working for the firm in February of 2011 as a student at Southeast Missouri State University. She graduated in 2013 with a degree in Human Resources Management and decided to turn her college job into her full-time career.

    Kate works with churches in our Faith Perceptions division as well as with businesses on the consulting side of the firm. She coordinates all of our mystery shopping programs and supports virtually all aspects of our client work.

    Kate is on the Foundation Board for the Missouri Chapter of Future Business Leaders of America - Phi Beta Lambda (FBLA-PBL).  In her free time you can find her searching for deals at auctions with her husband, Travis, cooking, baking, serving FBLA-PBL, and spending time with family and friends.

  • Cody Green

    Project Manager

    Cody Green is from Jackson, MO. He attended college at Southeast Missouri State University. After graduation, he moved to Lynchburg, VA to attend seminary at Liberty University, pursuing a Masters of Arts in Religion in Church Ministry & Discipleship. He moved back to the Cape Girardeau area in 2017.

    Cody joined the team as a Project Manager of the Faith Perceptions division in September 2018. Cody is passionate about ministry and growing the Church. He loves working at Faith Perceptions because it gives him the opportunity to impact the Church on a larger scale than he ever thought possible.

    Outside of work, Cody enjoys playing basketball or whatever city league sport is in season. He is captivated by the space industry and would volunteer to move to Mars if the opportunity presented itself. He also enjoys outdoor activities and traveling with his wife, Jessie.

  • Suzi Reinwald

    Project Coordinator

    Suzi Reinwald was born and raised on a farm in Southeast Missouri where community and family are deeply valued. After working for over a decade in sales, Suzi was inspired to do something more to directly impact local communities, and joined our team. Because of Suzi’s natural ability to create strong and sustainable relationships with clients she was a natural fit, and is highly valued.

    She is a Chamber of Commerce Leadership Cape Graduate, serves on the board for Lutheran Family and Children’s Services of Southeast Missouri, and helps numerous organizations with events and fundraising. Outside of work, Suzi can be found cooking, crafting, supporting local arts, traveling, and best of all spending time with family and friends.

  • Haylee Owens

    Project Coordinator

    Haylee was raised in Kennett, Missouri and moved to Cape Girardeau in 2005 to attend Southeast Missouri State University, where she graduated with a degree in Political Science with a minor in Mass Communications. Prior to joining Hendrickson Business Advisors, Haylee worked as a regional office manager serving the legal sector. She has also worked in a law office as well as for a medical supply company. She provides our team with valuable skills related to organization, critical thinking, and overall hospitality.  

    Haylee is a volunteer youth leader with the student ministry at Lynwood Baptist Church and enjoys spending free time with the students and other volunteer leaders. She loves reading, crafting, and spending time with family and friends. She can often be found watching St. Louis Cardinals baseball games or Carolina Panthers football games with her husband, Justin, and their dog Tucker.

  • terra bennett

    online presence specialist

    Terra Bennett was raised in a rural community in the southern part of Missouri. She attended Southeast Missouri State University focusing on a degree in Integrated Marketing Communications. In 2012 she made Cape Girardeau, MO her permanent home with her two daughters.

    It wasn't until she moved back to the area that she discovered her true passion for helping others succeed through the work she is now devoted to on a daily basis. From working for a full service marketing and advertising agency to owning her own full service agency, she truly believes in what she works so hard to accomplish every day for each client. Terra's empathy helps her to understand their needs and make their goals obtainable. From algorithms to websites and so much more, she is our online presence guru, and a team member since 2018. 

    Terra's community is very close to her heart and giving back is her way of serving those around her. She is an active board member of The Friends of Saint Francis with Saint Francis Healthcare and serves as the Development Chair. She has been a part of the annual Vintage Now Fashion Show for several years benefiting the Safe House for Women and continues to be a supporter, served as a member and event chair for the American Cancer Society local Cape Cancer Gala, a past marketing committee member with the Cape Girardeau Career & Technology Center, and planning committee member for the 2015 USGA Women's State Championship. She is a member of the Cape Girardeau Area Chamber of Commerce, and the Jackson Area Chamber of Commerce.

    In her free time she coaches her children in sports, loves to read, run, canoe, whitewater raft, camp, and travel to new places. She is also actively involved in her daughters' school and their parish.

  • Victoria Pfau

    Lead validator

    Victoria Pfau (better known as Tori) is a Cape Girardeau native. She graduated from Southeast Missouri State University with a BFA in Graphic Design and gained experience in marketing through previous jobs. She is our lead validator in charge of the validation process for all market research surveys. She joined our team in 2018.


    Tori is active in the arts and is a board member on the Arts Council of Southeast Missouri. She is also involved in the annual Vintage Now Fashion Show to benefit the local Safe House for Women. You can usually find her enjoying downtown Cape Girardeau, when she’s not reading, cooking, or finding creative things to do.
